Build Basics
Overview

Getting the right build is critical if you want to have an impact on the outcome of battles in Shattered Galaxy. Before you get started you should realize that SG builds have been explored extensively and the builds here are the compilation of years of testing.

We're going to be exploring some basic effective builds of two different types: Clout, and Education. There are other more specialized builds, but these will be the easiest and most effective for beginner and intermediate players.
Know the Limits

Before we get started with builds, it's important to know the maximum stat points we have to distribute.

When you create a hero you start with 5/5/5/5 and 20 points to distribute, so thats 40 points.

There are four divisions, and you only gain stat points for the first 50 levels in a division, so thats 49 stat points (since divisions start at level 1) times 4, or 196 points.

40 starting points + 196 points from levels = 236 maximum points to distribute.

NOTE: It's possible to surpass the 236 point limit through an event that happens 4 times a year called reincarnation.
Clout or Education

Two primary build types have emerged over the years to complete specific roles in battle. Clout heavy heroes will be more damage resistant, helping them to stand on pocs for the duration required to capture them. Education heavy hereos are more damage dealing, and can stop enemy units attempting to steal one of your team's pocs (though that is just one of the roles of "eduers").

Both builds can be rewarding, are required in battle, and if played well will earn you the respect of other players. It's recommended that you try both at some time or another to figure out which you play best and enjoy the most.

NOTE: The typical way to list a build, in or out of game, is tactics/clout/education/ma.

NOTE: The core units are ones that you should keep max level (60) and use near the end of battles to help win.
Basic Education Based Build

80/6/102/48

Core Units:
Revenant - 10362 HP, 113 Armor, 591 Damage, 1.6 Cooldown, Solar
The Revenant should be used to sit pocs owned by your team to prevent enemy units from capturing them.

War Pigeon - 3708 HP, 9 Armor, 107 Bomb, 21k Energy, After Burner (55%)
The War Pigeon is used to clear pocs that enemy units are "sitting" or poccing.

Ballista - 5142 HP, 38 Armor, 246 Damage, 1.8 Cooldown, 7 Meter Spread, Fallout
The Ballista clears air units with long range splash damage.
Basic Clout Based Build

100/110/10/16

Core Units:
Leviation - 12492 HP, 75 Armor, 301 Damage, 2.9 Cooldown, Ballistic Shield, Speed Boost (47%)
The Leviathan gets different kinds of shields to block/reduce specific types of damage (flame, laser, missile, or ballistic). Ballistic damage is considered the most common, and is the damage type of Arbalests and Vultures (two effective poc clearing units). The leviathan also can get the ability to block all damage for a short period of time using the neutron shield (but cannot poc while doing so)

Wraith - 24354 HP, 40 Armor, 225 Damage, 2 Cooldown, Phasic, Fallout
The Wraith is the most durable unit available for almost any build. It's very slow, so it should be phased (teleported) onto pocs using rocs. Also a shield red-eye can be used to support poccing.

Knell - 10628 HP, 21 Armor, 161 Damage, 1.5 Cooldown
The Knell has the advantage of being able to pass through all terrain, including hills and water. It is used to poc hard to reach or sat pocs. It also has armor piercing damage (armor is ignored in its damage calculations).

NOTE: It is difficult to reach full stat points as clout (since exp is based on kills). Therefore you should level up as an eduer and then stat reset to clout stats.
